Berrima Truck Crash

(Ten News, 1 Nov 2018) There was a lucky escape on Hume Highway when a truck lost control, crossed over the road and collided with a car. Luckily no one was hurt this time. The TWU says the driver is not to blame. “The industry is under such intense pressure from those at the top of the supply chain. They are literally squeezing the life out of truck drivers,” said TWU National Secretary Michael Kaine. Since the Federal Government abandoned the road safety watchdog two years ago, 465 lives had been lost in trucking incidents.
